Barnes Avenue Fabric and Roof Upgrade
Description of project
IRS Scotland Ltd were appointed as Principal Contracts under the CDM Construction Design Management Regulations 2015 to deliver the Barnes Avenue Fabric and Roof Upgrade on behalf of Dundee City Council and funding partner SSE.
The project consisted of the installation of a new Alsecco Ecomin 300 insulated render system to 154 tenement flats. Most properties also received a new roof upgrade where all roofs were stripped and prepared as well as having new fire stops installed before receiving a Russell Grampian tile. The render consisted of 6800m2 of External wall insulation bringing these properties in line with current building standards greatly improving the properties for the homeowners and tenants to enjoy for many years to come keeping their families warm and cosy with the piece of mind of a 25 year insurance backed guarantee for their properties.
The roofing works consisted of 3500m2 of new roof coverings including the removal and disposal of redundant chimney stacks completing the overall fabric of these buildings from old to new in 18 short weeks .To complete the transformation all soil ,waste and rain water pipes were renewed utilising the quality branded Marley range and all facias and soffits were replaced in hardwearing UPVC elevating any maintenance issues for the residents.
